This super nutritious homemade oatmeal bath recipe works to soften and hydrate dry or even irritated skin. Oatmeal, chamomile, and lavender reduce dryness, itching, and inflammation – skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and extreme acne.
This is also a good recipe to use if you (or your children) have a sunburn or skin rash. Note that for severe burns and rashes you should see a doctor. Oatmeal is great for any type of itch, as it soothes irritated skin.
Recipe for dry skin.
In addition to healing the skin, this aromatherapy recipe calms the nerves, calms your mind and contributes to a pleasant sleep. It is the perfect option for a bath before sleeping.
Ingredients.
2 cups of oatmeal.
3 tablespoons of chamomile flowers.
3 tablespoons of lavender flowers.
4 drops of chamomile essential oil.
4 drops of lavender essential oil.
3 drops of palmarosa essential oil.
Instructions:
Use your clean blender or coffee grinder to grind the oats into a coarse powder. Combine in a large bowl with the chamomile flowers and lavender.
Add the essential oils, use a stainless-steel spoon to gently shake everything together with each drop of oil adding so that they mix with everything else.
Place the mixture in a dark glass or PET plastic jar. Cover the bottle and let it rest for at least 24 hours to concentrate the aroma and its properties (more is better.)
To use the homemade oatmeal bath, put a few tablespoons of the content on a gauze or cloth and hold on the area to be treated.
For an aromatherapy bath, dip the herbal gauze into the water, soak in and relax for 20 minutes.
Rub the gauze over your skin – it feels slippery. This is the mucilage in oats, and it is very nourishing for the skin.
For a truly luxurious bath, add a tablespoon of extra aromatherapy oil to hydrate the skin. Dries without rinsing, and retain moisture.
