When you see a child scratching their head, the first thing that crosses your mind is that they probably have lice. The experience of having these critters crawling on your hair is pretty excruciating, but lice removal is what scares most people.
No child likes being combed with a lice comb. Not only is it painful, it takes a long time to make sure every lice and nit is gone. The worst thing is that if the child is anxious and restless (as most are) the procedure can even be almost impossible.
Lice are not unusual among adults, but they spread more easily among children as children spend more time together at school and on playgrounds.
Having head lice is not fatal or particularly dangerous, but it is nevertheless a somewhat unpleasant experience that can be very itchy and discomfortable. Another important reason to get rid of them is that they multiply very quickly.
There are helpful shampoos produced specifically to remove lice, but they are not always effective. First of all, you have to spend hours removing each egg. To kill an entire family of lice, you will need more than one or two bottles, which can be very expensive and, in some cases, damaging to the scalp.
Secret to get rid of lice
However, from the hand of the grandmother’s advice, comes a natural remedy to eliminate lice, which is not only cheap, without or is also free of chemicals and you do not have to treat children for hours by applying it.
You need:
- A lice comb
- Mouthwash
- White vinegar
- A plastic bag or shower cap
- Towel
What to do:
- Wet her hair with the mouthwash, then cover her hair with a shower cap or plastic bag. Let it rest for an hour. This may sound crazy, but lice really don’t like the strong smell of mouthwash.
- Rinse your hair and then wet your hair again – this time with white vinegar. Vinegar helps get rid of eggs. Allow the vinegar to set for an hour to once again cover your hair.
- Now wash the hair with a regular shampoo and comb through the lice.
- If there is a case of lice at school, spray your child’s hair with some mouthwash before leaving the house to keep the lice away.
